The most commonly available turtles in New Zealand are Red Ears and Snake Necks.
Red Eared Turtles are the most common turtles in the world! They are identified by the red marking on the ear. They grow to around 25cm and live for about 65 years. They are easy to keep, are great sun worshipers and won’t bite fingers if you want to give hand feeding a try. If they grow too big for tanks they can adapt to garden ponds but check with us first.
Snake-neck Turtles are an Australian native. They are hardy and intelligent and require similar treatment to Red Ears.
